Attorneys of the Firm participate in the WSG 2019 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C.

Attorneys Elizabeth Landivar and Alejandra Yacob, representing C.R. & F. Rojas Abogados, attended the WSG 2019 Annual Meeting in Washington, D.C., held on September 4 – 6, 2019, and actively participating in the activities carried out along with 155 participants from 74 different firms worldwide.

On the 5th, a global round table was convened by the WSG Women’s Group (WWG), of which Elizabeth and Alejandra participated as female representatives of the Firm, and where they discussed the issue of promotions for the development and loyalty of clients within each region, further plans for next year’s group were reviewed which include promoting best practices and ideas, initiatives or recommendations on collaboration and support to the WSG plan by 2020.

Below is a brief summary of the topics addressed by the exhibitors and different discussion panels:

How Global Giants are Invading Local Firms and how Stand your Ground.- The Firms, whether domestic or international, continue to expand into new markets, raiding incumbent firms key teams and partners. In this session, ALM Intelligence´s Patrick Fuller & Steve Kovalan walked us through the trends in expansion, the markets are growing the fastest around the globe, and discussed how firms can handle the bully in the market.

Global Cyber Wars.- In a world quickly adopting in facets of life and work as possible, security and machine learning are key to the protection of consumers and companies. Form AI driven chatbots turning rogue, exposed holes in cloud security, to IoT network´s data – data that is becoming both an asset and a liability – this panel discussed risk management as a critical topic to consider to your clients alike.

Economic Stagnation and Democratic Disruption: Trends and Challenges in Latin America.- Guest speaker and regional expert, Michael Camilleri discussed how Latin America is losing ground and demonstrating slower growth patterns across the board compared to other nations. With democratic disruptions, vulnerability and resilience, we see many challenges facing Latin America.

The Connected Car Market Disruption to Shared Mobility Worldwide IoT.- How will autonomous vehicles be regulated and how will associated policy-making initiatives create opportunities for deployment? How will our own privacy and security be affected and what steps will be taken to protect this information? It is estimated that the oil and gas industry will see a value of $ 39.4 billion in the IoT market.

A Restructuring of Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC).- the BUILD Act and Investing in Emerging Markets; as a counterweight to China’s development initiative in emerging markets, countries like the United States are creating an inclusive economic growth in less developed countries through the provision of credit capital and other financial support.
